HB 346- Educators in High-Needs Schools Could Get Student Loan Relief

Governor John Carney, Rep. David Bentz and Sen Bryan Townsend announced a proposal to offer student loan relief to Delaware educators in high-needs schools and subject areas.

I am so proud to sponsor this legislation along with my colleagues – it would help recruit and retain teachers, and provides needed services. We need to invest in our dedicated educators.

HB 328- Drone Bill Clears House Committee

The House Transportation Committee released my bill today that will make it a crime to intentionally harass someone or invade their privacy.

No one should have to deal with someone harassing them or invading their privacy with a drone. While we’re not talking about going after a 12-year-old who got a drone for their birthday and is flying it around the backyard, there are some who are clearly using the devices to harass others.

I’m looking forward to getting this bill passed into law to provide Delaware residents with a little peace of mind.

Going to Leg Hall: Newark Charter Students’ Citizens Project

I want to thank Newark Charter students Jasmin, Genevieve, Makenzie and Jordyn. They began looking into Delaware‘s equal accommodation law as it relates to service dogs as part of a class project and brought this issue to my attention.

We found out that we needed to clarify the state code so it is consistent with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act so I introduced HB 354 to clearly define service animal and the disabilities covered. Watch the video and read the bill (https://bit.ly/2ISbAbq) to learn more!

HB 354: Equal Accommodation Bill Signed

I was honored to work with Newark Charter High School students Jasmin, Genevieve, Makenzie and Jordyn on House Bill 354, and am so happy they were able to be part of the legislative process, and most recently at the bill signing ceremony. They began looking into #Delaware's equal accommodation law as it relates to service dogs as part of a class project and brought an oversight in Delaware's code to my attention. As a result, HB 354 clearly defines the term service animal and brings state law in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The bill helps to better supports those with service animals and affirms protections for the animals themselves.Thank you all so much for your hard work on this issue! #ADA
