I was honored to join Governor John Carney for the signing of the Michael McNesby Act. This critical piece of legislation will help raise hourly wages for direct support professionals who help families and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities every day.
Increasing wages for these dedicated workers will improve recruitment and retention of these positions, and reduce staff turnover and vacancies.
Michael McNesby was beloved by everyone he touched in his life, and it’s fitting that this important bill was named in his honor and signed at Elwyn Delaware, his long-time place of employment. I am privileged to have known Michael, and his family’s advocacy was instrumental in building support for this bill.
